Position of Elsewhere
It is no surprise that the Cullberg Ballet will be present as a guest at the Holland Dance Festival, whose theme this year will be the golden jubilee of the Nederlands Dans Theater. In 1995 Inger made a debut as a choreographer at the Holland Dance Festival with Mellantid, a prize winning success. Last year Inger retired as artistic leader of the Cullberg Ballet to focus exclusively on choreography, for one thing as associate choreographer with the NDT. It is remarkable to see how Inger's dance language has developed after all these years. While he used to be known for his narrative, humorous ballets, now he works without any frills and with an abstract approach. This can be seen in 'Position of Elsewhere'. The dancers come across as natural and the atmosphere radiates a pleasant transparency, also thanks to scenographer Jens Sethman.
